How things are in other Mystery Films

Setting/Time:

In mystery films, there is a wide variety of settings for openings scenes to have. Most of the time people make opening scenes in dark empty or deserted places but that's not always the case. Sometimes the opening scene in this genre may use a flashback, a fash forward, or tell a story about what happened. All these can take place in different settings like cars, a house, and even a mall. In mysteries there is not a set group of settings where opening scenes take place, it depends on the movie that is being made. When we talk about the time it is shot we can say that usually it is shot in the dark or in the nighttime because it helps created a mood or tone to begin the movie. Not all opening scenes shoot like this but it is a popular way to create that tone and mood.

Intended Audience:

I believe that mystery films are usually watched by people between the ages of 16- 30. The reason I say this is because people who will watch mystery movies have a mindset where they want to put pieces together, they want to solve, and they have lots of curiosity. The audience also has to be able to handle fear, which is usually the case for people in this age group.

Watch My Movie:

We also have to ask ourselves "How will I get them to see my movie?" Well in order to get someone to see your movie and want to watch it, your movie needs to be unique. By unique I mean have a different storyline have something that will separate your movie from all the others. You would not want to watch a movie that has some of the same basic and boring things all the other movies have.

Titles:

In most opening scenes we can see that usually, the title is small and in white letters in a dark background, from what I have seen most filmmakers use zoom to zoom into the film title. I think this is a good method to use because it has a little bit of action and usually catches the viewer's attention. When you have your film title also include some of the main credits, such as the director and producer's names.

Representation of different social groups:

Usually, more men watch mystery novels than women, although there is not much of a difference. The different social groups also depend on the character's social class.
